Unstitched

seam_ripper

My sewing class has been going well and today I attempted to make my first pillow. All I can say is OMG! I got all the way to the zipper part, then disaster struck. Who knew a seam ripper could do so much damage. As I was trying to unstitch the thread to reveal the zipper, I did it wrong and started cutting through the entire zipper. I was sooo upset.

Lesson learned: When you use a seam ripper, be patient, pay attention and go slow.

Also, for a beginner it may be a good idea to use the ball end of the seam ripper as the guide rather then trying to unstitch the thread with the sharp point.

Everyone in the class got a kick out of my mistake, but you better believe that my mistake was a lesson learned. ‘Cuz I will not be doing that again. When I came home with my tail between my legs- John was waiting and said, “Patience my love …Patience.”
